Abstract
The optimal place and size of the Renewable Distributed Generations (RDGs) have been obtained based on minimizing the microgrid power loss and maximization of the microgrid loadability. Moreover, the different types of RDGs providing total apparent power have been taken in the proposed method. This article studies the optimum different types of RDGs location and sizing based on maximization of microgrid-loadability without exceeding the microgrid constraints limits. RDG penetration level, branch current limits, and voltage magnitudes are considered as microgrid constraints. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is suggested in this article to get the optimal solution based on increasing the microgrid-loadability and minimizing the total power loss. The results gotten on a 69-bus microgrid demonstrate that the suggested method can be reduced the microgrid losses and increased the microgrid capacity. This article also verified with the suggested method with existing Golden Section Search (GSS) algorithm and confirm the usefulness of the suggested method in terms of reduction in total power microgrid loss, maximization of microgrid loadability and improvement the bus voltages quality. Moreover, it can be noticed the influence of the reactive power on microgrid loadability, and the CPU-time has been decreased for all test cases compared to the GSS-algorithm.
