Abstract
Since the first reported generation of far IR laser radiation by Chang and Bridges in 1970, every spectroscopic type of molecule has been made to lase but the two most important types have been symmetric tops having inversion like NH3 and asymmetric tops with internal rotation like CH3OH. These symmetric and asymmetric tops have few atoms in the molecule but the inversion and internal rotation modes yield a rich molecular spectrum with many laser transitions possible.
