Abstract
A highly sensitive optical sampling system at 1.5 µm is described, in which an Si avalanche photodiode is used as a two photon absorber for the cross-correlation measurement of optical pulse shapes. The sampling pulse is generated from a passively and actively modelocked external-cavity semiconductor laser with a repetition rate of 10 GHz, and 2 ps temporal resolution is achieved.
