Abstract

A method for the quantitative determination of the Light Scattering Capacity (LSC) of glazes is described. Using equations previously employed for milky white glasses, a method was developed for defining the LSC of low melting borozirconium glazes. Is is shown that this method may be taken as a basis for use with regard to any other glaze. The evidence indicates that an exponential dependence exists between the amount of the opacifying crystalline phase and the LSC of the investigated glazes.
