Abstract
Abstract The domain structure in ferroelastic triammonium hydrogen disulfate and rubidium hydrogen sulfate crystals has been studied comparatively by optical and VO2+ EPR methods. The results indicate that two types of domains are related with a mirror reflection plane (0,1,0), suggesting that left and right orientational orderings of sulfate ions are the mechanism leading to the order parameter for the ferroelastic transitions in these crystals.
