Abstract

The percentage share of the energy usage for cooling systems in buildings accounts for 30% of the total energy consumption. This causes the problems of energy shortage, environmental pollution, etc. So, it is essential to search for the technologies for the utilization of the solar energy and industrial waste heat. The adsorption technology is one of the most promising solutions. It has the potential of the using of low-grade heat. However, the systems still have the biggest bottleneck of low efficiency. In this paper, the novel heat-work conversion processes are integrated. The experimental results show that when the coolant temperature, heating source temperature and refrigeration temperature are about 25.9, 122.3 and −15.1 °C, the SCP (specific refrigeration power), COP (coefficient of performance) are about 515.1 W/kg and 0.25. The calculated total exergy efficiency can be improved from 0.16 to 0.40 by the novel heat-work conversions.
