Abstract
The article reviews the history of research on the main stages of the cooperative movement, theviews of cooperative theorists about the essence of cooperative forms of management, its forms and themain stages of development presented in pre-revolutionary, Soviet and Russian historical literature. Ananalysis of the works of modern researchers on the characteristic features of the formation and developmentof the cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan is given. Modern historiographicbase has greatly expanded and new conceptual approaches have been formed about history of thecooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan. Therefore, the chosen line of research is primarilydue to significant changes in scientific historiographic developments, which contribute to theformation of the most objective picture on the history of the cooperative movement. The analysis of theavailable literature about the cooperative movement in pre-revolutionary Kazakhstan makes it possibleto conclude that in the conditions of the market economy and the priority of the development of theagro-industrial sector in the economy, theoretical reflection of cooperation will allow to understand itseffectiveness in depth and to properly develop economic policy.
