Abstract
A university-wide project performing reference searches within a five minute framework took place this academic year at Case Western Reserve University. The Law Library participated in this project. This article describes our experience. Types of legal and non-legal reference questions are analyzed; choice of database (if any) is discussed and systems are critiqued in detail. The article looks to the future and concludes that only certain types of searching are feasible at the reference desk given time/cost constraints, but that online searching at the reference desk is a true benefit and all avenues for use should be thoroughly explored.
