Abstract

Objectives To evaluate the feasibility of flexible ureterorenoscopy in management of renal calculi in anomalous kidney. Methods One case of renal calculi in left anomalous kidney was treated with STOZE flexible ureteroscope.Male patient,40 years, was hospitalized because of repeatedly pain of right lower abdomen for five days. The two-dimensional reconstruction CT of abdomen and pelvic showed:one renal stone in left anomalous kidney, the diameter was lcm.We lien a F6 ureteral stents in the left ureter, and treated the renal stone with Ho:YAG laser lithotriptor through flexible ureteroscope after three weeks. Results The abdominal pain was obviously relieved, without any complication of hematuria or lumbago. We reexamined KUB and extracted the catheter in three days after surgery, and left hospital five days later. We extracted the ureteral stents three weeks later and reexamined CT which showed the stone was empty and uronephrosis was clear away. The patient had no complaints and no stone recurrence with 12 months follow-up.Conclusions Flexible ureterorenoscopy is a effective, safe, highly probable treatment for renal stones less than 2cm in size in anomalous kidney.
