Abstract

Behaviour laws in biomechanics are highly non-linear and contain multiple material parameters that require identification. With a set of material parameters, one deformation field spectrum should be obtained. In order to investigate this, an example of a hyperelastic model for the intervertebral disc will be studied in the context of a uni-axial deformation test. Results show different solutions for deformation using the same set of material parameters. Moreover, results were dependant on optimization algorithms, genetic algorithms and gradient-based, that were employed.
