Abstract
Versions of the relativistic many-body theory that make it possible to develop the theory of electronic states and spectroscopy of heavy elements have been proposed. Asymptotic estimates of the atomic terms have been made. It has been shown that the physical cause of the formation of the layered structure of electron shells is directly related to the repulsion of electrons in the electron plasma of the atom.
