Abstract

The oesophagus ofAscaris lumbricoides is built up by a muscular-epithelial part containing the ordinary muscle fibres which run from the three sides of the oesophagus lumen towards the periphery and a system of fibres and fibrous plates at the margin of the triradiate oesophagus lumen. In four complete series ofA. lumbricoides (males and females) the nuclei of both kinds of fibres were constant in arrangement and number.
