Abstract

ESR has been used to study H-atom abstraction by ĊH 2CO − 2 radicals from methylene groups of matrix molecules in α-glycine single crystals of compound isotopic composition. D → H substitution at the reaction site does not affect the kinetics, while deuteration of the amino group changes not only the rate but also the kinetic law. The results obtained have been interpreted on the assumption that the reaction rate depends on the structure and molecular dynamics of the cage with the reagents, rather than on the atom transfer.
