Abstract
In order to examine whether a 48Y container would resist the 30 min fire test specified in the IAEA recommendation or type B and fissile material packages, IPSN initiated an experimental programme called TENERIFE. At the same time, a thermal model was elaborated using the TENERIFE results in view of its use to assess the behaviour of actual 48Y cylinders. The aim of this paper is to examine the consequences of uncertainties in the knowledge of phenomena that occur during the nucleate boiling regime on the forecasts for the internal pressure evolution in a 48Y container engulfed in the IAEA fire test.
