Abstract

With the increasing number of sustainable sources integrated into the electrical grid, the demand for new and improved control concepts for grid connected power converters to ensure grid stability is growing. One control concept developed to face future challenges is the direct voltage control (DVC). Within this paper, the DVC is analysed and classified as a grid-supporting control concept. It is pointed out, that the new approach is still based on the classical current control with the only change in the replacement of the PI controller by high-pass washout filters. The modified current control is investigated and an alternative approach improving the dynamic performance is recommended. The results are verified by setting up and analysing the transfer function as well as by time domain simulations.
