Abstract

This paper deals with the choice of the prediction horizon in long-range predictive control, so as to guarantee the closed-loop stability. Three well-known algorithms are considered, including the Extended Horizon Predictive Control and a simple version of the Generalized Predictive Control. The horizon is selected by resorting to simple rules based on the analysis of the plant impulse or step response.
