Abstract
The dynamic fracture toughness of weld metals was tested by using the dynamic specific energy, ⋎ pj , as a measure. The results show that this approach can be used to estimate the dynamic fracture toughness of different microstructural areas of weld metal. Depending on the microstructure, different values of ⋎ pj were observed. The dynamic fracture toughness J Id measured and calculated by using ⋎ pj lies within ±15%.
