Abstract

In Wireless Sensor Networks, sensor nodes depends on battery power thus energy efficiency plays a major role as critical challenge in the lifetime improvement of networks. The lifetime of network is also based the key characteristics like number of nodes, mobility, coverage area and connectivity of nodes in the network. Recent research works says that the important of Wireless Sensor Network in various applications like sensing and monitoring based on dependency of applied applications which deals with lifespan of network. By using Backbone Scheduling technique in Wireless Sensor Networks, we can reduce and balance the consumption of energy to improve the lifetime of network. In this paper, we studied the performance of Virtual Scheduling Backbone (VSB) technique by combining Virtual Scheduling Graph (VSG) based algorithm with Local Replacement algorithm and the combined algorithm is named as Virtual Scheduling Backbone Replacement (VSBR) algorithm. Here replacement of node based on energy plays a major role for the improvement of life span of network. Thus the proposed algorithm is used to maintain long term processing and effective monitoring to overcome fault tolerance and to provide effective Quality of Service for sensing in the network.
