Abstract

I respectfully dissent from the “Human Impacts on Climate” position statement adopted by AGU in December 2007 (Eos, 89(5), 41, 29 January 2008). According to the position statement, human activity has changed climate, “including the temperatures of the atmosphere, land, and ocean, the extent of sea ice and mountain glaciers, the sea level…” The statement also says, “The observed rapid retreat of Arctic sea ice is expected to continue and lead to the disappearance of summertime ice within this century.”
