Abstract

‘Flipthinking’ in public health, hype or to stay? Can ‘flipthinking’, the art of thinking differently, help the public health in its pursuit of greater health benefits? That is the main question of this position paper. To answer this question we have to look at the current approach in public health first. The next step is to focus on an upcoming new definition of health; this new concept of health fits in the filosophy of ‘flipthinking’. After that the theoretical frame of ‘flipthinking’ will be examined. We can assume that if ‘flipthinking’ is genuinely theoretically based, it will be accepted by professionals as a new method in public health more easily. Then ‘flipthinking’ is here to stay!
