Abstract

The purpose of this study is examining the views and suggestions of the school principals and pre-school education teachers about participation in the school management. Qualitative research method has been used in this study. The participants of the research are 25 school principal and 30 pre-school education teacher working in official primary schools in Cekmekoy-Istanbul.The views of the teachers and the principals participated in the research have been obtained by the help of semi-structured interview form on a volunteer basis. As a result of the examination, it has been concluded that pre-school education teachers working in the primary schools are insufficient of participation in the school management. According to the findings of the research, the pre-school teachers’ participation in the school management should be encouraged and their realm of authority should be extended. Also the career development of pre-school education teachers should be supported and they should be incentivized to take master degree. It has been concluded that the teachers who graduated from the pre-school teaching department should be in the managerial staff of the primary schools.
