Abstract
A number of drinking water pollution incidents occurred frequently in recent years and imperiled the drinking water security for residents. Safeguarding drinking water has been an urgent task during the current economic development. Looking at the events in the cities of Hangzhou and Lanzhou, the importance of drinking water supply and security, and the existing problems in water resources management become apparent. Nationwide drinking water safety precautions need to be upgraded and environmental supervision needs to be stricter in order to attain environmentally friendly standards and practices in China.
