Abstract

ABSTRACTAn ageing population, supporting seniors’ health conditions and active lifestyles became some of the most burning questions in the last few years regarding the tourism industry. The European Union has recognised this and offers a wide range of supporting programmes (e.g. COSME programme) that are aimed at promoting the advantages coming from tourism and improving new health-related tourism products in order to make the living conditions of this segment better. Out of the COSME programme came the Off to Spas project (676737/COSME Programme) that tried to address these important questions by creating a new, off-season health tourism product for the older generation in Europe (COSME website – www.offtospas.eu).
