Research Article| January 01 2016 Of Frivolous Female Collectors and Manipulative Male Contributors: The Depiction of the Nineteenth-Century Album in Essays on Social Customs Jeannette Acevedo Rivera Jeannette Acevedo Rivera Jeannette Acevedo Rivera finished her Ph.D. in Romance Studies at Duke University, with a specialization in nineteenth-century French and Spanish literature. She is currently an assistant professor of Spanish at California State University, Long Beach. Her research has focused in recent years on the nineteenth-century album, which she explores as an archival object, literary topic, and gendered cultural practice. Other research interests include the intersections between gender, material culture, and fashion, and ideas of writing and collection.
