Abstract
Of a Sister Pete Wolf Smith (bio) A dowser, she was. Thirsty, we went, or drank from brackish cisterns, for want of her. Would squat on her haunches, spit on her hands, rub them together and spread them on the air; and indicate a place, no different, to my eye, than any other, and say, There. Pete Wolf Smith Pete Wolf Smith's poems, short fiction, and non-fiction have appeared in numerous magazines, most recently in Kerem/Living Text, Jews, Twelve, Peace Review, and The New York Review of Science Fiction. He was a winner of the 2002 Lyric Recovery Poetry contest for his poem, "Lentils," and of the 1998 Anna Davidson Rosenberg Poetry Award for his poem "1944." He was also nominated for a Pushcart Prize for his poem "Zum and Jesse," which appeared in Maverick Press/Terrapin. He currently studies midrashic writing with Alicia Ostriker.
