Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is one of the most fundamental problems of today’s world. This study was carried out in order to determine what the employees of the Istanbul Police Department’s Children’s Branch think about the reasons that push children to crime and the measures that need to be taken. This study was carried out by using qualitative research method for twelve participants who worked in different titles in Istanbul Police Department Child Branch Directorate. The reasons that push children to crime are also individualpsychological factors, environmental factors and familial factors. The reviews and comments of the participants, in line with the personality of the individual within the healthy development of children failure to complete the pattern causes the environmental factors, socio-economic and familial factors in the environment and the negative effects of the status of the family in a negative role model are necessary. It is the issue that families provide good communication and interest with the child. It was understood from the participants that there is no legal deficiency in our country regarding child protection laws, and that they have sufficient knowledge about the “United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child” and “Child Protection Law No. 5395”.
