Abstract

The paper describes the occurrence of gorceixite associated with fluorite with solid halite inclusions found in the Nova Fatima deposit of the Santa Catarina Fluoritic District, southern Brazil . The fluid inclusions study put in evidence depositions of these minerals by a mixture of fluids process. This data suggests the existence of a phosphate bearing saline fluid, with origin linked to the sedimentary rocks of the Parana basin. The arrival of this fluid in the vein structure resulted in an increase in fluorite deposition, diagnostied for the extreme abundance of fluid inclusions; with the subsequent deposition of extremely pure gorceixite due to the leaching of barium from the Nova Fatima deposit. Gorceixite Rare Earth Elements indicate a strongly oxidized deposition environment.
