Abstract
The muscles from 5 monkeys were examined for spindles. One spindle only was observed, in the middle of the muscle. As spindles in this muscle are absent in various mammals, these receptors cannot be an essential source of sensory information in the anterior digastric muscle, or play a major role in mandibular function.
