Abstract

In this paper, we study active region 12882 in conjunction with the level of geomagnetic storm based on space weather data. Several flares occurred in this region in October 2021, including M1.6 and C2.1. Data were also collected from the online solar monitor and space weather live database provided by NOAA and SDO/AIA. The study of the solar flare events was done by monitoring the sunspot region for the past four days to observed changes in the earth’s atmosphere. The M-class flare event made by AR 12882 produced a CME with a speed exceeding 500 km/sec which directed towards Earth and produced an intense geomagnetic storm with kp6 index.
