Abstract

Wave packet transit at various positions on the adiabatic potential surface has been observed in self-trapped excitons in halogen-bridged Pt complex as a modulation in luminescence intensity. The time development of the luminescence intensity has been successfully interpreted in terms of damped oscillation of a Gaussian-shaped wave packet on a parabolic adiabatic potential.
