Abstract

Spectral dispersion of the refractive index and/or that of birefringence of the interference system is utilized for a specific interferometric method referred to as object-adapted interferometry. The method uses monochromatic light of continuously variable wavelength (λ). In particular, a white-light source and an interference monochromator (wedge interference filter) can be employed. The only parameter that is directly measured is the interfringe spacing b, while other quantities are observed, read out from the calibration graph b(λ), and derived from quite simple formulas.
