Abstract

Objective To investigate the nursing process in high-volume cataract extraction surgeries. Methods 6679 cases of non-stitch, small incision cataract extraction with intraocular lens im- plantation under topical anesthesia were performed. The whole process was observed, including preoperative preparation, management of operating room and postoperative nursing. Results The procedure was smooth and successful in all the patients. No surgery-related infection occurred. Conclusions Adequate procedure management is needed in cataract surgery in primary care hospitals. Key words: High volume ; Cataract surgery ; Nursing
