Abstract

Objective To explore the main point of nursing cooperation in the treatment with deep brain stimulation ( DBS) for patients with Parkinson ’ s disease ( PD) in order to improve the clinical efficacy and reduce the complications .Methods One hundred and eighty -seven patients with PD from March 2011 to October 2012 received the careful operation cooperation during the operation of DBS , and the operation method was partly improved .Results During the operations 325 stimulating electrodes were implanted into the STN of 187 patients, unilateral in 49 cases, and bilateral in 138 cases.The intracranial hemorrhage and permanent neurological complications were not found in patients after the operation .The patients were followed-up for 3-27 months, and the improvement rates of the UPDRSⅢ score were respectively 51% and 63% in the patients without and with drug medication .Compared with preoperative , the PD patients reduced the anti-parkinsonian medication after the treatment of DBS .The reduction of the postoperatively dosage was 62%.Conclusions DBS is an effective and safe treatment method for patients with PD .The careful intraoperative nursing plays an important role in the improvement the therapeutic effect of DBS for PD patients .
