Abstract

Objective To study the causes and nursing measures of the complications of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC)in hospitalized patients.Methods There were 98 patients with PICC in our hospital who were observed.Then the results were analyzed with the method of percentage statistic.Results These patients were taken successful puncture operation,among of them 86 cases without complication,occupying 87.76% of total amount;5 cases with phlebitis,affecting 5.10%;2 cases with catheter block,affecting 2.04%;2 cases with venous thrombosis,affecting 2.04%;1 case with infection at the puncture spot,affecting 1.02%;2 cases with bleeding at puncture spot,affecting 2.04%.The catheter was kept in patients'body at most 286 days,at least 7 days.Conclusions PICC is an easy-operative,effective,safe insertion catheter method and long time indwelling,PICC has been widely used in patients.To improve safety,the nursing strategies should be strictly sterile operation and careful observation and nursing.
