Abstract

The flow of a fluid of second grade in a square cavity is studied with the help of finite difference equations. Convergence is obtained by seeking after the dominance of the main diagonal of the system. Solutions are obtained for a Reynolds number equal to 100, and Weissenberg numbers ranging from −0·5 to 1. Interesting effects are found when the Weissenberg number increases.
