Abstract

In this work, we present the numerical simulation of mixed convection using Lattice Boltzmann method. It is the case of mixed laminar convection in a two-dimensional domain, the cavity is completely filled with a Newtonian fluid with a Prandtl number is taken Pr = 0.71 (the case of air), the horizontal wall at the top is permanently animated with a speed different to zero, and kept at a hot temperature. The bottom wall is adiabatic and the remaining walls are taken to cold temperature. The study was focused to the effect of baffles interposed on the horizontal wall at the bottom. The results are presented in the form of dynamic and thermal fields for the Rayleigh number Ra = 1000 and at different Reynolds numbers. The influence of the height of baffles placed inside the cavity is also treated for values of 40, 60, 80 and 98% of the height of the cavity.
