Abstract

The presented article describes a custom electrochemical model describing galvanic corrosion. With the use of User-Defined Scalars and Functions, the relevant equations were implemented into Ansys Fluent. The model was used to investigate the galvanic corrosion between mild steel and a magnesium alloy AE44 in a NaCl solution. The initial state was studied as well as a situation after 72 hours, in which the deformation of the anode surface due to the dissolution was of interest.
