Abstract

A numerical model of the microclimate and air quality in the stables is built in the STAR CCM+ software. A fragment of a historic building in St. Petersburg has been taken for modeling. The model takes into account features of architecture, ventilation equipment, the number of horses. To compensate for the loss of heat, air heating is provided, combined with a ventilation system. Two options for supplying fresh air to the service area are considered: from the top downwards from the center of the corridor along the arches to each stall by horizontal jets and into the lower zone of the room. Air removal is carried out from the upper zone of the corridor. The distribution of velocity and temperature fields, relative humidity, and CO2 concentrations in the stalls is obtained. The conclusion is made about the provision of normalized microclimate parameters in stables with the proposed solutions for heating and ventilation systems.
