Abstract
- We numerically model the development of a swirling turbulent axisymmetric wake behind a self-propelled body. To describe the wake we use two mathematical models which include a differential equation of motion, a differential transport equation for Reynolds stresses, and a differential equation for the rate of dissipation. A satisfactory agreement between the calculated results and the experimental data is obtained. We numerically study the decay of a far turbulent wake and propose simplified mathematical flow models.
