Abstract
Rarefied flows through a plane microchannel into a vacuum are numerically investigated on the basis of the model kinetic equation for a diatonic gas (nitrogen). The dependence of the gas flow rate through the channel on the Knudsen number, the wall temperature, and the channel length is determined. The energy flux transferred to the cold diatomic gas from the hot channel walls is calculated. The results for diatomic and monatomic gases are compared.
