Abstract
In this paper the FEM-based analyses of the typical high voltage electrostatic problems are presented. Analysed examples are carefully selected to cover some of the fundamental and common configurations and problems in the field of high voltage engineering. Four examples are analysed: impact of the electrodes' shapes on the electrostatic field intensity and its distribution in the dielectric, impact of the dielectrics' constants values on the electric field intensity distribution in the double layer insulation system, voltage and electric filed distributions across the long insulator and calculation of the electric field and voltage distribution in the dielectric of the coaxial cable. Presented results and conclusions can be useful both in the students' education process and for engineers dealing with the high voltage equipment design and testing.
