Recently in Saudi Arabia, a national drilling record was reached for the longest horizontal well drilled. A key technology for drilling such wells, which typically show a Total Depth (TD) in excess of 30,000 ft, was the use of extended reach horizontal drilling. Drilling these wells required, among other things, a proper selection of drill stem products. With drill pipe accounting for most of the string length, choosing the right specification plays a huge role in overall drilling performance. With a lot of friction as the string is ran downhole, the ability to transmit torque to the bit is challenging and connection technology becomes critically important. Double shoulder connections place connections at par with the pipe body in terms of torque capacity and actually come with additional benefits. Not only do these connections transmit higher torque but they do it using a thinner steel envelop, which allows a larger internal opening for improved hydraulics. Furthermore, these streamlined connections can also come with reduced Outside Diameter (OD) tool joints which help keep the Equivalent Circulation Density (ECD) as low as necessary to maintain formation integrity. Towards the end of 2010, a national record 32,136 ft measured depth well was drilled in Saudi Arabia using such connection technology, proper material grade selection and optimized pipe size selection. The well was then used for horizontal water injection into the reservoir in order to maintain reservoir pressure and optimize production. This paper will describe the challenges of this project and how connection technology, engineered material grade and pipe size helped address each of these challenges. The record well case history will form the base of this paper and authors will include a comprehensive section on the successfully selected connection, its performances as well as a summary of more recent results.

Critical areas of national electronic health record programs—Is our focus correct?

<strong class="journal-contentHeaderColor">Abstract.</strong> This analysis highlights the potential value in reanalysing early national meteorological records from around the world. These were oftentimes measured via techniques that preceded standardisation of instrumentation and methods of observation and thus could be subject to considerable biases and uncertainties. This analysis uses the techniques pioneered by WMO record assessment teams. The highest currently recognised air temperature (33.3â<span class="inline-formula"><sup>â</sup></span>C) ever recorded in the Republic of Ireland was logged at Kilkenny Castle in 1887. The original observational record however no longer exists. Given that Ireland is now the only country in Europe to have a national heat record that was set in the 19th century, a reassessment of the verity of this record is both timely and valuable. The present analysis undertakes a fundamental reassessment of the plausibility of the 1887 temperature record using methods similar to those used to assess various weather extremes under WMO auspices over recent years. Specifically, we undertake an inter-station reassessment using sparse available records and make recourse to the new and improved 20CRv3 sparse-input reanalysis product. Neither surrounding available stations nor the reanalysis offer substantive support for the Kilkenny record of 33.3â<span class="inline-formula"><sup>â</sup></span>C being correct. Moreover, recent data rescue efforts have uncovered several earlier extreme values, one of which exceeds the Kilkenny value (33.5â<span class="inline-formula"><sup>â</sup></span>C on 16Â July 1876 recorded at the Phoenix Park). However, the sparsity of early observational networks, a distinct lack of synoptic support from 20CRv3 for many of the extreme heat values, and the fact that these measurements were obtained using non-standard exposures lead us to conclude that there is grossly insufficient evidence to support any of these 19th century extremes as robust national heat record candidates. Data from the early 20th century onwards benefit from a denser network of stations undertaking measurements in a more standardised manner, many under the direct auspices of Met Ãireann and its predecessors, adhering to WMO guidance and protocols. This enables more robust cross-checking of records. We argue that the Met Ãireann-recognised 20th century heat record from Boora in 1976 is verified as the most plausible robust national temperature record based upon the synoptic situation and comparisons with nearby neighbouring stations. This measurement of 32.5â<span class="inline-formula"><sup>â</sup></span>C thus likely constitutes the highest reliably recorded temperature measurement in the Republic of Ireland. Ultimately, the formal decision on any reassessment and reassignment of the national record rests with the national meteorological service, Met Ãireann.

Public trust in national electronic health record systems is essential for the successful implementation within a healthcare system. Research investigating public trust in electronic health records is limited, leading to a lack of conceptual clarity. In response, the objective of this study is to gain a clearer understanding on the conceptualizations of public trust in electronic health records, which can support the implementation of national electronic health record systems. Guided by the PRISMA-ScR checklist, a scoping review of 27 qualitative studies on public trust in electronic health records found between January 2022 and June 2022 was conducted using an inclusive search method. In an iterative process, conceptual themes were derived describing the promoters and outcomes of public trust in electronic health records. Five major conceptual themes with 15 sub-themes were present across the literature. Comprehension, autonomy, and data protection promote public trust in electronic health record; while personal and system benefits are the outcomes once public trust in electronic health records exists. Additional findings highlight the pivotal role of healthcare actors for the public trust building process. The results underscore comprehension, autonomy, and data protection as important themes that help ascertain and solidify public trust in electronic health records. As well, health system actors have the capacity to promote or hinder national electronic health record implementation, depending on their actions and how the public perceives those actions. The findings can assist researchers, policymakers, and other health system actors in attaining a better understanding of the intricacies of public trust in electronic health records.

The purpose of this study was to explore the National Archives and Records Management System (NARMS) at Botswana National Archives and Records Services (BNARS). The study specifically sought to explore metadata management practices and evaluate the infrastructure for digital records keeping. The study adopted a qualitative research design and used a purposive sampling technique to select study respondents. For data collection, the study adopted the use of a self-administered questionnaire, scheduled interviews and document analysis, whereas, for data analysis, the study employed a thematic analysis approach. The study’s major finding is that metadata management is done manually by designated officers (records managers and archivists). It is, therefore, recommended that BNARS consider transformation that would automate some aspects of specifically born-digital records’ metadata to improve and sustain reliable metadata and the authenticity of records.

ABSTRACTObjectiveLongitudinal cohort studies remain important sources of information in health and epidemiological research and represent a significant investment of resources. The maintenance of these cohorts over time and the representativeness of retained participants are important considerations for researchers. For those weighting the benefits of augmenting a longitudinal cohort study with data linkage to national health records, the potential for bias in consent and match rates and the utility of the newly obtained data are also key considerations. This study presents an analysis of bias associated with consent to participate and record matching in an established longitudinal cohort of older persons. We present the unique outcomes generated from this national health record data linkage project and the opportunities such variables present for longitudinal cohort studies.ApproachThe New Zealand Health, Work and Retirement study is a biennial survey of persons aged 55-85 which commenced in 2006. Over the past decade, additional cohorts have been recruited to the study, with n = 9003 older New Zealand residents participating to the year 2015. In 2013 the study began an approach to active survey participants for consent to link their longitudinal survey data to national health record data held by the New Zealand Health Information Service, including data related to hospital events, the New Zealand Cancer Registry, pharmaceutical data and mental health data. We compare self-reported longitudinal health trends associated with consent/declination to participate as well as for record match success and failure. Key outcomes derived from these national datasets for the purposes of the Health, Work and Retirement Study are described.ResultsConsent (62.5%) and declination (8.9%) to participate in the data linkage project are described in terms of the corresponding longitudinal self-reported health and socio-demographic trends for these groups. Successful and unsuccessful matches of participants to national health record data are also described. The calculation of outcomes from each of the linked datasets obtained and their potential utility in building upon existing longitudinal cohort data are also presented.ConclusionsNational health record data linkage presents a potentially valuable source of data to supplement and replicate findings related to health outcomes and expenditure derived from longitudinal cohort surveys. The challenges and successes of the New Zealand Health, Work and Retirement survey data linkage project touch upon considerations pertinent to evaluating the value of augmenting existing and ongoing longitudinal survey cohort for other researchers.

The implementation of the UK Freedom of Information Act enhanced the transparency of the public records system because it changed how information held at The National Archives became available to the public. With the advent of the Act, the previously applied 30-year standard closure period no longer determined access to records; instead, information is now assumed to be ‘open’ right from the start unless one of the exemptions set out in the Freedom of Information Act applies. The aim of this paper is twofold: first, to describe the operational impact the Act has had on The National Archives; and second, to examine the way in which the Act has changed the role of the Lord Chancellor's Advisory Council on National Records and Archives within the context of performing a ‘checks and balances’ function in the public records system.

Introduction: Several studies proved the convenience of vaccinating health care workers (HCWs), especially physicians, and vaccination is recommended by health authorities in many Countries. Nonetheless in Italy only a small part of HCWs get vaccinated. The aim of this study is to conduct a systematic review in order to estimate the pooled prevalence of influenza vaccinations among physicians in Italy and to investigate the enhancing/preventing factors associated with this kind of preventive tool.Methods: Relevant articles up to 1st May 2010 have been identified through Scopus, PubMed and Google Scholar; data extraction and quality assessment were performed independently by two researchers.The analysis was performed using StatsDirect 2.7.8.Results: Sixteen studies, performed between 1990 and 2008, reported vaccination rates with pooled prevalence among all HCWs. From nine of them data regarding physicians have been extracted and analysed, finding a pooled proportion of 23.18% (95% CI = 17.85-28.98%). One study allowed an analysis of the reasons encouraging and preventing influenza vaccination. The main ones are on one side self protection, and patients’ and family’s protection, and on the other side “not caring about influenza,” followed by “fear of adverse effects” and “belief that vaccine isn’t effective.”Discussion: Italy has a good overall influenza vaccination coverage, and national records are available for population aged over 65 years or with chronic illness. Unfortunately there isn’t any national record about HCWs or physicians vaccination, and from the data gathered from the studies examined in this analysis vaccination prevalence is low. The reasons brought from physicians are worrying because of their position in the society and in the health care system, in close contact with patients.This shows a great need for well-done information and educational campaigns stressing the importance of prevention.
