Abstract

A novel version of the double-Y balun, transitioning from a microstrip to a coplanar strip (CPS) line, is designed to feed a complementary spiral antenna. Attractive features of the new version of the double-Y balun presented in this work include: 1) little metal content, 2) broadband performance, and 3) improved junction performance when compared to various previous versions of the double-Y balun. Performance of the new balun is evaluated via VSWR and insertion loss measurements.
