Abstract

In a high statutory context, hospitals continue to meet important evolutions in technology, safety, quality and budget control. Thus, the function of hospital maintenance becomes increasingly important, requiring any biomedical service to wonder about its maintenance strategy. Research into industrial maintenance shows that nearly all of its concepts and practices, both operational and organizational, are transferable to biomedical maintenance in a beneficial way. Thus, the biomedical services can be inspired by the methods of industrial maintenance in order to initiate new maintenance strategies. Nevertheless, it is advisable to develop an application methodology and to prioritize the maintenance actions according to the realities of the field.
