Abstract

Children’s Television Workshop (CTW) is known internationally for its series Sesame Street. The Workshop is an unusual institution, established in 1968 without sustaining government subsidies or the financial backing of a major broadcasting system. This chapter is based mainly on an analysis of the organization and management of CTW written by John Mayo of the Learning Systems Institute at Florida State University and Richard Nelson of the University of Houston in Texas (Mayo and Nelson, 1979).
