Abstract

Cycloaddition reactions of cyclopentadienyl iron dicarbonyl 2-alkynyl complexes (1) with diphenyl ketene (2) yields transition-metal substituted cyclopentenones (4). The transition metals can subsequently be cleaved from the cyclopentenones under a variety of oxidative and nonoxidative reaction conditions.
