Abstract

In this study, the cricket ball is modelled based on a non-linear visco-elastic power law, derived from stress relaxation behaviour. Due to the polynomial nature of the stiffuessdeflection relationship of cricket balls, peak forces and contact time can only be approximated, however, with good conformity with the numerical solution of non-linear viscous power law model with constant elastic component. The peak forces and contacet time in the cricket balls investigated range between 4.2-7.4 kN, and 1.2-1.9 ms at an impact velocity of 15 mis, and between 13.3-27kN, and 0.9-1.7ms at 45m1s.
