Abstract

Theoretical and experimental results are reported for the nonlinear interaction of the surface acoustic waves (SAW) in a (Δv/v) waveguide on YZ · LiNbO3. The generation of the SAW at the sum frequency of the two input SAWs propagating in opposite directions is analyzed. It is shown in this paper that the propagation direction of the SAW at the sum frequency is controllable by changing the wave-vector ratio of the two input SAWs. The efficiency of generation strongly depends on the (Δv/v) velocity ratio and the width of the waveguide.
