Abstract

Summary form only given as follows. In the present paper we have investigated the growth of a radially symmetrical ripple, superimposed on a Gaussian laser beam and its effect on ion-acoustic wave excitation by considering the interaction of a weak ion-acoustic wave and the rippled Gaussian laser beam in relativistic plasma. We have set up and solved ordinary differential equations for the beam width parameter of the main beam, ripple and the density perturbation associated with the excited ion-acoustic wave. Effects of relativistic nonlinearity have been seen and presented here.
