Abstract
The role of synchronization procedure is reanalysed in relation to a recent formulation of Lorentz' ether theory. While special relativity and ether theories turn out to be nonequivalent, the results of ether wind measurements from the Earth indicate that the hypothetical ether may, at most, be at rest with respect to the Sun.
